Bead Collector
Collectible Doll Beads          When you have been in the bead business as long as we have, you would think you would have seen it all! Never! They just keep coming and coming! Oh there are some you see again and again like the Czech glass round beads thMarsha Hedrick Collectible Beadsat many bead stores have in every size and every color. Once in a while, though, we find something that just makes our heart pound a little faster. It could be a bead that is beautiful and divinely made or something that grabs you emotionally for some reason. That’s what these beads did. Heather found the artist, Marsha Hedrick, and showed me a picture of her beads. I knew when I saw them I had to have some for my own collection. They made me think of something my mother or aunt would have had when I was a child either standing on a knick knack shelf or in a little box that you opened when you are looking for something else and found these adorable little people you didn’t expect.

I bought some for my “bead stash”. When they came I showed them to Heather and she ordered some for the store. Here is the link if you just have to have one (or a set) of them. I just love the little girl holding up her dress. I have seen a picture of my mother when she was about 3 (around 1928) and very shy looking just about like that.

Marsha Hedrick Collectible Beads    The little girl with the purple hat and coat were a gift from the artist that came with our store order. Do you see what she is holding in her hand? A little dolly! I love it! How can people paint such tiny details?

Marsha Hedrick Collectible Beads    To the right is the little Dutch boy and girl. I would have thought they were darling anyway, but they are beads! I have no idea what to do with them other than squirrel them away in my collection but that’s ok. They are one of the best examples of collector’s beads I’ve seen – and I’ve seen a lot!
