 Bead Challenge 2007: Beyond Make Believe
Our 2007 bead challenge inspired a creative turn in beaded dolls. The theme and title gave the participants free range on how to create the doll itself, and then their challenge was to embellish it with beads. All of the particpants received a packet with details about the challenge and helpful information for ideas & inspiration. Stretching their individual imagination was encouraged in choosing their subject around a “make believe” theme and venturing outside their usual color choices & techniques.
 One participant even profiled her work in progress on our “Beadittudes with Dara.” It was fun to hear the stories and ideas that people shared about their process, and amazing to see their finished work! The Beadin’ Path held an afternoon reception for the unveiling, welcoming the artists themselves as well as the general “beady” public for all who wanted to attend. All of the dolls remained on display for a couple of weeks so many more shoppers in the store could enjoy them. We want to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated. We appreciate your willingness to share your vision of the special little someone who you brought to life with your beads! ~Debra Ward
