Golden Hoop
Pizazz Earrings
Designed by Kristin Burgess
Use our new hammered brass chain to make
these festive earrings. With a gold vermeil brushed
round dangling below the hoop, this earring has great
movement and it just sparkles.
14 kt gold fill findings are used for the earwire
and finer chain below.
The Ingredients...These earrings include 2 gold vermeil brushed rounds, 2x....approx 1 inch sections of fine gold chain, 2 20gauge headpins, 4x...4mm antique gold plate heishi flower spacers, 1 foot of the hammered brass chain (each pair of earrings uses two closed <not cut> rings), and 2 simple gold fill earwires.
Step 1:
Using your chain nose pliers pry open the loop on the earwire by swinging it to the side enough to feed the end of 1...1" section of the fine chain onto the earwire. With one end on the earwire loop, draw the other end of the same chain through 1 of the hammered brass links. After passing through the brass link bring chain back up and onto the earwire loop (like the first side). Using the fine chain to hook through the brass link as a way to attach the brass link to the earwire adds great movement (and sparkle) to the earring! Repeat step on earring #2.
Step 2: With one of the 20 gauge headpins thread on a pewter antique gold flower, then a vermeil brushed round, then a pewter antique flower again. Using your chain and round nose pliers form a coiled link to attach bead/pin to hammered brass link. The loop you form needs to be on the thickest part of the round nose plier so that it will fit nicely onto the thickness of the brass hammered link. We offer a Wirelinking class here at the Beadin' Path and we also carry a great wire book called
All Wired Up by Mark Lareau if you would like information on linking and working with wire.
