Hammered Copper and Shell Earrings
Designed by Kristin Burgess
Copper isn't just a junky metal....well not any more! The durability of this copper chain we just got in from Bali is impressive. It is also amazingly light-weight despite it's heavier look. These factors made it a perfect match to use in earrings. Our niobium earwires work great with the different shades of metal, including copper, that are working their way into the fashion world. I just love the teal shell contrast against the hammered copper. This combo is sure to be a favorite so make some for your friends this Holiday Season! A perfect fit matched with the Hammered Copper and Amethyst Necklace in our tutorial section.
This is a great beginner project and a fun way to use wire in an instant gratification type project. These earrings are nice worn alone or a perfect compliment to the
Hammered Copper and Amethyst Necklace.

Materials needed:
4 copper lined balls
2 shell beads
2 copper rings (uncut)
2 seed beads
2 niobium ear wires
6 inches of the 22 gauge copper wire soft
Step 1: Stack the following on each headpin...
1 copper lined ball, 1 seed bead, 1 teal shell. Form a coiled eyepin using the thickest part of your round nose pliers so that the loop will fit over the thick chain. Remember to feed the loop over the chain link before coiling it shut. A coiled eye top makes for a secure link and two or three coils will be enough.
Step 2:
Cut the 6" portion of the 22 gauge copper wire into two 3" pieces.
Creating a coiled link connects the top of the hammered link to the niobium earwire. Again you will use the thickest part of the round nose to form the loop on both sides. This link includes one copper lined ball. Coil link the other side shut as the earwire has a seam and pryed open slightly will allow you to slip it on with ease. The links on this earring allow them to swing with any slight movement which displays the glow of the mother-of-pearl wonderfully.
