Mermaid Tail Sea Glass Bracelet
Mermaid Tail
Sea Glass Bracelet
Designed by Kristin Burgess

The Seaglass rounds have arrived!  This wonderful addition to our frosted glass collection will add a splash of color to your bead stash.  Mix and match both our 6 and 8mm sizes to compliment each other or other shiny bead mediums such as Czech glass or  Swarovski Crystals.  The softness in texture of the seaglass is very close to authentic or naturally formed sea glass that is often sought after but not available in shapes or sizes that are consistent.  Our shapes include nuggets, pendants, chips, the new rounds and much much more.  NOW you can attain that soft seaglass look without having to visit the beach!

This project is great for all levels!  Stringing and crimping are involved with this project.   The bracelet has a total of five strands.  Ten crimp beads and covers are needed.  One strand of each of the beads in the materials list are needed and each will have leftovers.   glass strands crimped to clasp The final length of the bracelet is just over seven inches.  There are enough materials to make the bracelet bigger by evenly increasing the pattern for each of the strands.  The first strand will set this length precedent.

Step 1:

Prepare a clutter-free workspace to lay out small piles of the beads on.    Precut 10" of the fine softflex with the flex cutters.  Attach this precut piece to the clasp using a sterling 2x2mm crimp bead and the standard crimper tool.     With this piece of softflex attached,  start by stringing one seed bead then one small faceted chech glass, 1 seed and so on.  Alternate these two styles of beads until you have reached seven inches or your desired length.  The filigree clasp that you are attaching this strand to is 12mm or just over a half inch wide.  Subtract the clasp width from your desired finished bracelet length to be sure you string the right amount.  6 and a half inches strung should be enough if you want to have 7 inches in final length.  Crimp this to the coordinating clasp loop on the far side.   Cut away any excess wire with the side cuttersand now the first strand is complete.

Step 2:

Using the crimper tool and 1 of the 2x2 crimps attach a second precut 10" of fine softflex to the
bracelet glass strandsclasp loop beside the one just previously completed (would be the second one in).   This second strand will have the same alternating pattern using the 6mm Matte Mint Green Chinese rounds (SG-6R-MT) or any other of your color choice.  Alternate this round with the size 11/0 crystal AB seed bead until you reach your desired length.  Crimp this strand to the coordinating other side and trim away excess softflex wire.  With two strand complete repeat the same procedure as above filling the last three strands in the bracelet with the following three patterns...

Step 3:

The third strand alternates the size 11/0s with the 6mm white opal sea glass rounds (SG-6R-OP) until desired length.  The fourth strand is the blue faceted rounds straight strung.  The last and fifth strand alternates the green faceted rounds with the size 11/0 seed beads.  With all the ends trimmed you can go back and apply the crimp covers for a more finished look!  I find the end part in the standard crimper tool (the lemon shaped 'notch') works well for gingerly shutting the clam shell shaped cover over the folded crimp beads.

Step 4:
    Sterling Filigree mutli strand clasp

Leftover beads could be made into earrings to match.  The little glass leftovers alone on a 24 gauge coiled headpin make for a nice simple dangle that would also be versatile to wear from outfit to outfit.
