Flower Necklace
Designed by Kristin Burgess
A new bead shipment has just arrived! New stones in all different shapes and sizes even featuring a new "jelly bean" bead shape that works wonderfully spaced out with glass and stone in this multistrand chain necklace. Try mixing and matching other shades in the "jelly bean" shape to create your own color scheme in this fun new design!
This project is great for all levels! Stringing and crimping are involved with this project. The necklace measures 19 inches at the longest strand, and 16&1/2" at the shortest strand. Multi strand layered necklaces are hot this season. This necklace stays in our Trend Alert of royal tones just bumping a shade brighter to usher in Springtime.
Step 1:
Precut 19" of vintage metal chain. Use the flat nose pliers to attach this chain to the outside edge of the metal bar. Do this to both sides of the metal bar. Later we will add on a lobster claw so that it will fully function as a clasp. Precut about 20 inches of fine softflex wire. Attach one side of this precut piece to the middle bar clasp using one 2x2 crimp bead and the standard crimper tool. String the following design...
1 seed, 1 pearl, 1 seed, 1 prehinite, 1 seed, 1 pearl, 1 vintage silver ball, 1 pearl, 1 seed, 1 prehinite, 1 seed and so on until you have 18" of symmetrical length. Crimp this strand to the cooresponding ring on the far side bar clasp. Trim away any excess softflex using the flush cutter snips.
Step 2:
The last strand is all strung using the little aventurine rice beads. Cut 18" of the fine softflex wire and attach to the last ring on the bar using your crimper tool and one of the 2x2 crimp beads. Straight string these little stones until you reach desired length. Crimp off on the last vacant spot on the bar clasp. Trim away any excess wire using the flush cutter tool.
Step 3:
Using the flat nose pliers open and remove one side of the clasp chain. Using one of the open rings to attach a lobster claw clasp. Be sure to completely shut the ring so that the clasp is on secure and there are no gaps where the clasp can slip out. Leave the chain on the other side so that the lobster claw can clip onto any of it's multiple links. It is nice to have this adjustment especially if you are making the piece as a gift.
