Glass Bead Showcase
Vintage Givre' Beads: Givreâ (pronounced âgee-vrayâ) refers to a bead that is either crystal or transparent that has an interior color. The beads are usually made using a glass encasing technique before they are pressed into molds. Our collection of givreâ beads varies in origin: some are from Austria, Japan, or Czech while most hail from Western Germany ca. 1940-1970âs.
Czech Dagger Beads:
This popular style bead is what you need when you want to add fringe or texture to your pieces. Available in 2 sizes, we have a nice range of colors in this popular bead. Cluster them together to add sculptural elements to your beadwork, make baubles for earrings or rings, or layer them for a fringy bracelet that will dance on your wrist.
Rough Cut Beads:
These glass beads are also known as âEnglish cutsâ. This style was manufactured primarily in West Germany ca. 1940âs and was faceted by hand. Miriam Haskell & other well-known jewelry designers whose works are found in todayâs vintage jewelry collectible market, used this style bead often and as staple.
Vintage Faceted Rounds:
A classic faceted bead is every designerâs must-have. We have a nice collection of opaque colors as well as some transparent. These leaded glass pieces were either press molded to get their edges or hand-faceted.ã A little bit of light will reflect off of each âcutâ but they donât have the same glitz factor as a fully-leaded crystal.
