German Lucite Flowers:
Our Lucite flowers were mostly produced in Germany although we do from time to time find some made in Asia that we can't help but add to our line. We used to find many many styles that were authentically vintage. However the frequency of finding old frosted Lucite flowers & leaves is waning. So many of these styles are now in reproduction. Most are still made by their original manufacturers in Europe that are still producing Lucite stock to this day. These beads are easily dyed using natural RIT dye. Here is a great article with some tips on how you can dye your own custom line of Lucite beads: http://www.beadinpath.com/content/view/609/25/
Moonglow Lucite: The term moonglow is used to describe the Lucite in a glossy almost opalescent finish. This style bead was produced almost exclusively by Best Plastics in Rhode Island from the early 1960's through the early 1980's. We purchased 40,000 lbs of Lucite from this factory when they were cleaning in 2004 & much of the stock was the moonglow style bead. Available in lots of shapes & colors, you will find a lot of Best Plastics buttons were widely used on cardigan sweaters in the 1960's and 1970's.
Resin Roses: These were an unusual find & we have lots of them. They were made in Hong Kong in the 1970's. They are a resin composite plastic of some type & we're not sure of the exact manufacturer or recipe. But they dye beautifully. So we have a nice palette of colors for your enjoyment. These pieces work in nicely with any material including stone. They have a less glossy, more natural finish than most resins or composites.
