Matte Lucite Beads: Matte lucite beads add a crystallized or frosted softening quality to any piece of jewelry. It's a popular & easily found finish in lucite jewelry components that are being made today. However, we have some vintage matte treasures as well. In the older stock, most matte beads were simply not tumbled to a shinier look vs being treated with a chemical.
Two-Toned Lucite Beads: Much of our vintage lucite came from a manufacturing company called Best Plastics out of Rhode Island. They made beads from the early 60's thru early 80's. One if their signature styles was their multi-toned beads. A retro glam style & a double shot of color.
Lucite Floral Cabs: Another 'Best Plastics' exclusive, these pieces (and most of their other beads as well), were made using a fascinating technique. Similar in process to the Italian murrini style, canes were created using large amounts of plastic which were then extruded & sliced. They were then tumbled in several grits to achieve their finish.
Jewel Toned Lucite:
Heading into the Fall & Holiday seasons, richer hues are forecasted to be in fashion. Vintage lucite manufacturers in the mid 20th century, like glass bead makers, had a keen interest in replicating the look of natural stones & gems. You'll find lucite made to resemble turquoise, lapis & quartz, among others.
