 Last Minute Bead Gifts and Season Beadings to You!
Hooboy! Here we are, a few days from Christmas. By now the halls should all be decked and hopefully you’re not running around like a Christmas goose. Perhaps just a few last things on the list to check off, and then you’re home free to celebrate and enjoy a festive, fun holiday, hm? Good! Here’s a couple of suggestions to help you get it all buttoned up.
Be Prepared
In the next few days you’re bound to realize that you’ve forgotten to get a gift for someone. Maybe your hairdresser or babysitter or someone important that somehow slipped under your radar. An easy solution? Something classic: The pearl bracelet. Timeless and appealing in its simplicity, a bracelet of pearls can be made in any color pearl out there, any size too, for that matter. There are so many shapes, colors and sizes that you can change it up or keep it simple. Dressy or casual, a white or ivory pearl meets our adorning needs on a regular basis. You can even make the bracelet sizable by adding an inch of chain to the end of one side, and a lobster claw on the other.

Grab a piece of 18g wire, and some pliers. Spiral the end, add an awesome lampwork bead (or stone, raku, lucite...you get my drift) and then crank the tip of the wire into a loop. Hang from a key ring. VOILA! Instant gift. At times I’ve just hung a simple charm from a key ring. You don’t want it to be cumbersome and large if its for a man since its likely to go into his pocket. A woman doesn’t mind a bit of large bling hanging around her keys. Makes them easier to grab in the bottom of her purse, too! Oh, and anyone who just got a permit or license should have one of these, too.
A hot gift
By hot I mean burning a hole in your pocket hot. A gift card given to any beader makes the words SHOPPING SPREE resonate in their heads the minute a gift card touches their hands. It’s a thoughtful gift and is much appreciated, especially in tough times when its hard to replenish your sterling wire supply or replace your wire cutters. Gift cards are helpful. Or, they can be frivolous and let someone buy a focal bead they’ve been wanting and haven’t had the money to shell out for it. Be kind. Give a gift card.
I've said it before
And I’ll say it again. I LOVE it when people give me beads. What beader doesn’t??? I love when someone picks out beads for me with my having no say in it because they choose things I may not choose for myself necessarily. Its really fun to see what people may think that I like. I like it all so its really not hard. Glass and crystal and wood and lucite and sterling and metals. And. And. And.
Gifts and whatnot
I think my most desired and appreciated beady gift this year could be time. Time to bead. I’m talkin’ without phones ringing, children needing me, chores to be done… etc. I would like a block of time to stand still for me to while away at some much desired beading. Without even a hint of sarcasm I can say that I love to clean my house, do my yardwork and care for my children (not in that order) but I long for the chunk of time to create something beautiful and satisfying and beady.
