Last Minute Holiday Gifts: Bead Kits, Beads, Supplies and Tool
The time is now! To prevent yourself from pulling the dreaded all-nighters in the week ahead, check out these great ideas for holiday gifts!
Bead kits
First and foremost, we recommend our lovely Lucite mixed tubes. They’re fun, colorful and have huge design potential. A great assortment of Lucite in a spray of themed color with a price to make your wallet happy. These tubes make great stocking stuffers, too.
Bauble kits
For a twist on the bead kit… try one of these bauble kits! They’re just as fun as the bead kit, only with a twist… a small loop allows this component to be a button, dangle, fringe bead or you can string them up any way you like! The Beadin’ Path has an exclusive on these little beauties, and they’re a must for your stash! Best to get one for a gift and one for yourself. At least!
Make your own kit
Want to customize a kit for someone special? We’ve got some great containers in the store to house your hand picked beads, buttons, findings and more. Personalize your kit by choosing colors and shapes of beads that would be loved by the person receiving it. Tailored gifts are meaningful and appreciated.
Hand picked beads
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… a beader loves to receive beads. Strands, loose, charms, pendants, clasps and more. I love getting beads from someone who took the time to actually pick out things they think I’d like. And I always do. Haven’t met a bead yet that I didn’t. So feel free to fill up a goodie bag with a few hand picked treasures to give to your favorite beader.
Supplies
One of the best things I ever got was a large roll of Fireline in my Christmas stocking. The stuff we use all the time is so crucial to our work… so those make wonderful gifts, too. Crimps, pliers, jumprings, clasps, E-6000, waxed linen and the ever needed clear zip lock bags are stuff we always want.
The ultimate tool for a gift
If you have a pulse you must have heard about the Crafted Findings Piercing and Riveting System. This is a must have for designers who want to open up a whole new world of one of a kind custom pieces, and for any beader who loves metals. This tool gives you a change to make professional tailored design elements with ease. This is number one on every beader’s gift list!
Seed beads
As a seed beader, you just can’t have it all. I mean, there are SO many seed bead colors, finishes, styles and sizes that its impossible to own every one. But we can TRY! Help out the seed bead lover on your list by gathering up a selection of colors that you think they’d enjoy. And while you’re at it, grab some needles, Thread Heaven and Fireline to round it out.
Clasps
A clasp can make or break your work. Having a selection to choose from is so great and it makes your finishing touch easy squeezy. I highly recommend a smattering of clasps in practical (lobster claws, toggles), fun (Lucite clasps), and special (vintage) and more. This is gift giving that’s really appreciated.
Everyone wants…
… a giftcard! It’s the right size, shape and color. They fit in a stocking or a gift box, and not one person receiving it will let it go to waste! Get a gift card from the Beadin’ Path in any amount you want.
When time is running out and you don’t have the brain power to make a piece of jewelry for a gift, fear not! Beads, supplies and tools are much desired presents, and its thoughtful, too. The beader in your life will love it. Oh, and as a beader yourself… make sure you give your desired wish list to your loved one so they can swing into the store and pick something up for you!
Here’s a poem written by a beader to make you smile!
Obsession
By Lissa McCollum
Cramped back cracks as I crinkle
into bed. Needle pricked
fingers gather soothing sheets,
and aching neck nestles deep
into 3 AM pillow. Light switch click,
itchy eyes finally close...
...and phantom bugles flash
cobalt behind twilight eyes.
Freshwater pearls shimmer,
swimming through my veins
as Delicas dance my spine.
Cool garnets slide memory
smooth through fingertips
twitching for pointed precision
as the beads stalk me deep
through the night...
