Spring Earrings Galore!
I’ve got the bug, and I’m not talking about the flu. Enough of the cold, the relentless blustery winds, the frigid temps. Of course, I say all this with a grain of salt, since living in California in January means its 76 degrees and our warmest jacket is a zip up sweat shirt with a hood for the cool nights. But being a Maine girl at heart, I’ve lived in the frozen tundra-wasteland that is winter at its peak. Just for the record, I prefer the snow of Maine to the sun of California. But I’m just done with winter. So lets jump into some flora and fauna, fun and sun, yes?
A Spring bouquet
I’ve come to realize that its mostly the colors I’m longing for. Fresh burst of colorful flowers are light, carefree and happy. And designing with flowers is fun, since there are no real rules. You can layer and stack petals till the cows come home. They only need to remotely resemble a flower and you have success! Here are some wonderful inspirations for you to get you budding with ideas.
Red Lucite lovelies
These simple earrings are a burst of fresh color for Spring! All you need is a pair of bell flowers in any color you choose, and a center bead to hid up inside the bloom. I love the look of Lucite flowers, since they’re translucent and the light passes through them the same way it would pass through a petal. Very girly and pretty, no? These can be whipped up in no time by just adding them to a head pin and turning a loop. Hang from wires of your choice for a cheery pair of pretties.
Beautiful bell flowers
Here are a couple of designs for little glass bell flowers where you can’t go wrong. Try suspending them from chain in a cluster like this blue version. That blue really POPS out with the darkened metals, especially that bead cap. A touch of crystal in there, and you’ve got suspended flora to dazzle your lobes.
This other version is as sweet and simple as Spring itself. Stack a simple and subtle leaf on top of a bell flower and hang from a pretty ear wire. Put these on and you can practically feel the snow melting outside! I adore the soft pastel color of these earrings, and how they’ll go with anything.
Pearly girl
When the mention of Spring comes along, I always think of pearls. Maybe it’s the pastel colors of Easter or the approach of late spring weddings. Pearls are light, feminine and reek of Spring. I found this cluster of 3 pearls wire wrapped in a simple way, and thought they were fun and fancy!
Star light, star bright
Swarovski starfish are the bomb, the cat’s meow, and the bees knees all rolled into one! They’re a taste of summer, and I had to include them here. We’ve got tons of colors of them, and they don’t need any hype. Just ear wires and a jumpring, and you’ll hear the ocean in your ears. I swear.
I wish I were a fish
And while we’re on the subject of the ocean, check out these Swarovski fish beads. They’d make fabulous earrings, too! We’ve got them in clear and jet, and they’d be awesome if simply hung from an ear wire or chain. Elegant and simple.
We may have a way to go before we actually get some glimmer of buds on the trees and shoots of green grass, but every time you glance in the mirror you’ll have a twinkle of Spring to come if you just don a pair of pretty Spring earrings. It’s a glimmer of hope in the frozen abyss. Let us count the days…
“Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again. “ Sarah Ban Breathnach
