Summer Earring Spectacular!

Ka-Pow! And just like that...it’s summer! Hooray! Time for shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. Now, what to wear with that. I have just the thing! All you need is a few flirty, flouncy pairs of earrings that reek of summertime bliss. Worthy of the shore, a game of croquette or a picnic. Or pa-nic-nic as my 4 year old calls it.

A splash of sea glass

Nothing screams summer more than sea glass. Who doesn’t love it? Shards of glass smoothed by ocean sands and water. Real sea glass is lovely in it’s a-symmetry. You can wire wrap similar pieces into drops with a swirl of 24 or 22 gauge wire, or if you have drilled sea glass a simple jumpring or wire wrap can made a sweet little dangle. I love the color of the glass the way the light shines through. Don’t have real sea glass? No fear! The Beadin’ Path has lots of gorgeous sea glass type beads for making jewelry. A flirt of flowers

I love the big splashes of color in the summer. Bold, bright and full of energy, this bouquet of flowers is just that. Wire wrapped with a thin gauge wire onto a hand formed hoop, these tiny beauties make quite a statement! I really love coral and turquoise together for summertime, but this addition of sunny yellow and a combo of red and orange mixed in gives it a freshness and puts me right in a happy place!

Dangling candy

Call it what you want: Art glass, furnace glass, or cane glass, it’s a version of hand made glass beads that will have your toes tingling in your sandals. The varieties are endless, the colors are fun and happy, and you can use this glass in so many ways. I love using it in earrings because it really showcases the glass high on your body so it gets a lot of attention… and the light can pass through it easily hanging from your lobes vs. laying against your skin. I chose this particular pair because the colors are like a burning hot sun in early afternoon… the best time to be soaking up the rays!

Summer strummin’

Yes, you’re seeing these correctly. I’ve been to a few summer-inspired activities lately, like street fairs, beach combing and open air markets, and what do I happen to notice? That the teen to 30-something crowd is adorning themselves with picks. Guitar picks, that is. They’re being sold at the street fairs for about $5.00 a pair. So I couldn’t resist. Now I’m the proud owner of a pair of tortoise shell ones that go great with my retro Styx concert shirt. I’ll be glammed up on the beach for sure this year. There’s a great profit margin to these…. You just have to buy a box of picks at any music store and drill them yourself. I have a past post on drilling if you wanna get strummin’.

Hoops are hot. These Lucite hoops are scorching! Simply made with a bit of sterling chain, these hoops will rush around your shoulders like high tide. We’ve got a staggering amount of hoops and rings sure to match all your swim suits. Last year I had a yellow pair. This year the blue was too tempting.

There’s tons of gorgeous, loopy, fun chain out right now. It’s the new thang. And sometimes the chain is so pretty, its all you need. This pair of chain earrings is only that… just chain and an ear wire. Elegant with a summer dress and sandals, or free spirited in your swim suit, this pair is sure to get noticed. You don’t need any jewelry making techno ability… just dangle it off an ear wire. Simple, no? Beautiful, YES!

Silver and stone, stone and silver

Lapis, aquamarine, kainite… there are so many pretty blue stones out there. This pair of earrings reeks of summer skies and tide pools. An added swirl of silver around the belly of the bead makes it even more so. Any pair of blue stones will do… and any gauge of silver will do. Go bold by using a thicker gauge, or instead choose a thin gauge for a hint of swirl.

Anchors away!

A must have this year… our anchors are part of our Vintage matte metals… and there are some seahorses and shells in there that you must know about. Choose sterling silver plated or 24k gold plated… or both! Be warned...we have only limited amounts of these. Savor them while you can.
